Bio |
After playing as friends informally in the taverns, the Galician folk ensemble A Roda was formed in 1976. Their first album was released in 1977 and was a sales success, and also won the "Premios da Crítica de Galicia" award in 1978. Upon release of their third album in 1980, they began to make an impression further afield, touring far and wide in such countries as Venezuela, Mexico, Panama, Argentina, Great Britain and Belgium. After a several year hiatus in the 1980s, the group have been steady with a string of releases, the traditionals being interspersed with their own songwriting.
