“Rocks” by Aerosmith - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1976 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1970s ● 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die |
On their fourth LP in four years the 5-piece line up: Steven Tyler (lead vocals, keyboards, harmonica), Joe Perry (guitars, pedal steel, percussion), Brad Whitford (lead and rhythm guitars), Tom Hamilton (bass guitar) and Joey Kramer (drums, percussion, backing vocals). There were some promising moments on the preceding “Toys In The Attic” but, for me, they've all but disappeared just 1 year on. It's a turn to a screaming-vocals-searing-solos brand of hard rock, which is good news if you're into that kind of thing, and this 'uns regarded by many as their definitive statement. Three singles proper were released; “Last Child” (#21), “Home Tonight” (#71) and “Back In The Saddle” (#38).
