A fine splinter group from Them, so much so that many people who bought the record were fooled into thinking that it actually was Them. Which is probably the biggest compliment they could receive. Or the biggest complaint that could be levied. The cheeky title and deliberately ambiguous cover design did much to create the confusion, as did the band’s rough brand of R n B and Jackie McCauley’s vocal stylings which were almost certainly the neatest Karaoke tribute to Van Morrison ever. Just to complete the illusion “Gloria’s Dream” is simply “Gloria Part 2”. This is a strong set, with 7 originals and 5 covers. Seems a shame that the splinter would themselves split in November 1966. They go down in history as the band who split BEFORE their debut album was released!
