“Lady In Satin” by Billie Holiday - album review

TJR says

There's a morbid fascination in delving into the last Billie Holiday album released in her lifetime, the well-documented struggles with heroin all too apparent in her croaked vocals. For me, “I’m A Fool To Want You” is the only track where that results in an artistic positive. By and large, the critically acclaimed “Lady In Satin” was, alas, another “Great American Songbook” yawnathon; I guess Hoagy Carmichael and Rodgers & Hart are just not my thing.
