Plagued by infighting and drug-related arrests, Buffalo Springfield had split in April 1968, 2 months before the final album was released. “Last Time Around” was another eclectic set which failed to excite in any genre, although Richie Furay’s “In The Hour Of Not Quite Rain” is the rather lovely drama-songwriter exception. Stephen Stills went on to form Crosby, Stills & Nash with David Crosby of The Byrds and Graham Nash of The Hollies in 1968. Neil Young launched a solo career, but in 1969 also reunited with Stills in Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, which saw the beginning of his sporadic relationship with that trio. Richie Furay and Jim Messina were founding members of Poco. Furay also joined J.D. Souther and Chris Hillman to form the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band, and Messina also teamed with Kenny Loggins in Loggins & Messina.
