“Pictures At An Exhibition” by Emerson, Lake and Palmer - album review

Not as entertaining as the preceding “Tarkus”, their second long-player of 1971 was an ambitious set at Keith Emerson's behest, re-arranging “Pictures At An Exhibition”, a suite of ten pieces for piano by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky in 1874. They performed it at Newcastle City Hall on the 26th March 1971, lining up: Keith Emerson (pipe organ, Hammond organs, Moog modular synthesizer, Clavinet), Greg Lake (bass guitar, acoustic guitar, vocals) and Carl Palmer (drums, percussion). Keen collectors with an eye for humour will note the catalogue number. HELP1. Indeed.
