“Moving Target” by Gil Scott-Heron - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1982 → ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1980s → |
It's always worth lending an ear to Gil Scott-Heron, although he's never fully really done it for me over the course of a full length. “Black History / The World” easily takes the honours here, with 4 minutes of spoken word “black history” leading into a 6 minute “world” funk-out. Synpopsis: Places once called under-developed and “backwards” are now called “mineral rich.” And still it seems the game goes on, but we've got to believe we can change the world. Now, that's how to finish the album.
