“Harry” by Nilsson - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1969 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1960s |

Fifth album from the 28-year-old craftsman, devoid of thrills until you flip over for the the orchestral pop spleandour of “Mournin’ Glory Story”, a ditty which firmly puts me in mind of the Beatles' “For No-One”. Better still is “I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City”, a song written for, but not included in, the movie “Midnight Cowboy”. It has a simple charm to it, framed by a fastly plucked banjo, a sweet strings section and an airy vocal full of the joys of spring. He's got his moments.
