19-Oct-2018 The end. Died 2015, aged 92. Some discographies are erroneously listing "Field Trip-England" (Folkways FW8871, 1960) and "As I Roved Out (Field Trip-Ireland)" (Folkways FW8872, 1960) as Jean Ritchie albums but they are out and out various artist compilations, made up from the songs collected by Jean in the British Isles in 1952-53. I also ruled out the 1982 LP "Wassai! Wassai!" which was billed to The Christmas Revels, a project which was directed by John Langstaff. Subsequent re-issues gave Jean’s name on the front cover, but I can’t be convinced to include it as a Jean Ritchie album. |
