“Orange Blossom Special” by Johnny Cash - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1965 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1960s |
Whilst it can’t live with the exhilarating brilliance of the preceding “Bitter Tears” LP, “Orange Blossom Special” continues to show good form, with an interesting stylistic mix of both folk and country, including 3 songs “gifted” to Cash by none other than Bob Dylan, 2 of which were first to market. The Johnny & June duet cover of “It Ain’t Me Babe” recalls the “Ring Of Fire” sound to good effect, whilst the title track is another rip-roaring train-chugger that steamed all the way to Number 3 in the Pop Charts.
