“Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep” by Middle Of The Road - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1971 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1970s |
The proto-Abba pop quartet from Glasgow were: Sally Carr (lead vocals), Ian McCredie (guitar), Eric McCredie (bass) and Ken Andrew (drums). Their big break came when they got offered the chance to record Lally Stott's “Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep” and, with the support of Radio 1's Tony Blackburn, the song shot to the top of the UK singles chart. The subsequent album of the same name failed to chart in the UK.
