“Promised Land Sounds” by Ras Michael and The Sons Of Negus - album review
features in: (B-list) Album Chart of 1980 ● (B-list) Album Chart of the 1980s |

Highly spiritual nyabinghi-driven roots reggae affair led by Ras Michael (lead vocals), I Jack (second repeater, first fundae harmony), Brother Allen (second fundae), Big Dread (third fundae), Aaron (percussion, harmony vocals), I Marts (akety, bass drum, harmony vocals), Elias (keyboards), Maskal (string bass), John Cornelius (trap drum, harmony vocals) and Vince (rhythm guitar). I'm not too sure where the hypnotic-jam-like “Yoyo” originally comes from, but I'd sure like to, it sounds amazing. The album's definitely a b-lister as it includes “Boom A Ya” (originally done on “Kibir Am Lak - Glory To God”, 1975) and “None A Jah Jah Children No Cry” (originally done on “Rastafari”, 1975).
