Ruth Brown’s 1976 LP finds her in the house of Jerry “Swamp Dogg” Williams. You’d have thought such a pairing up would be dynamite but, alas, this is not the case. With a couple of notable exceptions, these tracks walk an MOR cabaret pop line, often descending to Shirley Bassey-esque cheese. I just can’t be doing with it…
