Named after the practice house where it was largely conceived, the debut album from Bob Dylan's backing band was released in July, 1968, unveiling their penchant for a laid back Americana groove. The spectre of the old boss still looms, with three of his songs being included, but the finest moments - “The Weight” and “Chest Fever” come from the pen of the group's main guitarist, Robbie Robertson. Elsewhere, I struggle to get too excited. The album was very well received in the burgeoning roots rock scene; expressive guitarists were lining up to take this sound onwards from here. Groan…
