A typically unsatisfactory DC5 hodge-podge release for the second class citizens of Britain (EMI Columbia – SX 6207), released in December, 1967. Includes 7 tracks new to their album discography and 9 tracks recompiled from previous American LP’s, mainly “5 x 5” and “You Got What It Takes”. The usual mixed bag of confusion now incorporates clear signs of AOR cabaret via the nauseating balladeering of the title track, the lousy showboating cover of “Blueberry Hill” and the sniggering music hall of “You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby” - we’re being led deeply into the land of Thomas the Jones. At the same time the band continue to hang onto the new cerebral Beatles pathway, with album closer “Inside And Out” doing a particularly good job - Lenny Davidson does his George Harrison don raja bit and we’re being fed with some Lovin’ Spoonful and Kinks cool, whilst “I’ll Do The Best I Can” apes on Walker Brothers. It’s not all bad - but the future’s not looking good…
