Arriving in November was the second LP of the year from the latest Hollies 5-piece. By way of complete contrast to their release of six months previously, the album was full of Hollies originals, the title serving as a great big underline to the critics who had raised eyebrows at the preceding Dylan covers concept album. Allan Clarke's “Soldiers Dilemma” is concerned with the plight being faced by American youths of the day, compulsory conscription being at the forefront of the news as the Vietnam War rumbles on: “Even after I've protested, Seems I don't have any choice, You put a gun in my hand now, You say I'm fighting for peace.” Perhaps they should have done more of this sort of thing - it's not a bad way to be finishing the decade.
