“Michael And Miranda” by The Passions - album review
features in: Album Chart of 1980 ● Album Chart of the Decade: 1980s |

The two-year-old London group came into this one on the back of two non-charting singles and a Nov' 79 session for John Peel. For their debut long-player in April, 1980, they lined-up: Barbara Gogan (guitar, vocals), Claire Bidwell (bass guitar), Clive Timperley (guitar) and Richard Williams (drums). Production duties were handled by label boss Chris Parry. Imagine if you will an early female-fronted Cure and you're in the area, with an occasional Slits-like dalliance with Jah-Rock. The future's not too bright and it's a struggle to survive - the spartan cover doesn't lie. No singles were issued from “Michael And Miranda” - their no-nonsense album statement stands alone.
