This is where I get off the Tony Joe express; what excited me with his “Continued” LP of '69 has slowly been eroding away since then, the cheesy country of “California On My Mind” typifying the disappointment. Best of the LP is the single, “Backwoods Preacher Man”, in which he channels his rustic blues vision, a much more attractive proposition than the soft country rock tendencies elsewhere. And the state of that cover man, I'd be embarrassed to pick that up in a record shop. See ye mate…
