The Jukebox Rebel

Well, drummer Roger Hawkins and bassist David Hood, from the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio house band, didn't last long. One album and two tours and they were off, along with percussionist Rebop Kwaku Baah who was fired. Bassist Rosko Gee was drafted in, whilst Jim Capaldi switched back to drums. The quartet now lined up: Steve Winwood (guitar, vocals, keyboards), Chris Wood (flute, saxophone), Jim Capaldi (drums, percussion, keyboards) and Rosko Gee (bass). There's very little for me in Traffic's music these days, although this is a slight improvement on last year's effort and the vaguely dubby “Walking In The Wind” teases me with a sense of what might have been had they been so inclined. Their somewhat cool and laid back prog-rock variant continued to be well received in the States; this was their fourth consecutive Top 10 in the main Billboard album chart.
