TJR says

The band's greatest commercial success, reaching #3 in the US and #4 in the UK. They lined up: Jon Anderson (lead vocals), Steve Howe (guitar, electric sitar, backing vocals), Chris Squire (bass, backing vocals), Rick Wakeman (keyboards) and Bill Bruford (drums, percussion). Ever more complex Gothic-Rock-Jazz symphonies with movements and all sorts of boldness of arrangement are the order of the day. The technicalities involved in producing this music would drive some folks mad. Describing the torturous studio process, drummer Bill Bruford commented: “It was like climbing Mount Everest. Every instrument was up for democratic election, and everybody had to run an election campaign on every issue. It was horrible, it was incredibly unpleasant, and unbelievably hard work”. Bill left the group after the album was recorded. Bill has my sympathies.
